The 2nd Invitational Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 commenced in a vibrant atmosphere on 27th April 2026 at the historic Nurul Amin Stadium

The 2nd Invitational T20 Prize Money Women’s Cricket Tournament, organised by the Nowgong Sports Association in association with the Assam Cricket Association, was held from April 27 to 29, 2026 at Nurul Amin Stadium with enthusiastic participation from four district teams. The three-day tournament was formally inaugurated by Deputy Superintendent of Police of Nagaon district, Parmita Sarkar, in the presence of several distinguished guests. Former state women cricketer and noted social worker Navanita Sharma delivered the welcome address and spoke on the importance of sports for players, while General Secretary of the Nowgong Sports Association, Tapan Kumar Das, highlighted the rich legacy of women’s cricket in Nagaon and encouraged the younger generation to take greater interest in sporting activities. Senior ACA umpire and advocate Asim Kumar Bhawal, Joint Secretary Ujjal Baruah and former cricketer Rita Baidya Kakoti were also present and motivated the participants.

On the opening day of the round-robin league tournament, hosts Nagaon and Hojai secured convincing victories in their respective matches. Nagaon defeated Morigaon by nine wickets after restricting them to 86 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs and successfully chasing the target in 16.1 overs with the loss of just one wicket. Dipshikha Bordoloi of Nagaon was adjudged Player of the Match. In the second match, Hojai defeated Goalpara by seven wickets after bowling them out for 53 runs and later reaching the target with three wickets down. Disha Nath Sarkar of Hojai received the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance.

The tournament continued on April 28 with Nagaon and Hojai once again registering victories to strengthen their positions in the points table. Nagaon defeated Goalpara by 22 runs after posting 93 runs for the loss of four wickets, while Goalpara managed only 71 runs for four wickets in reply. Rupashree Saikia was named Player of the Match for Nagaon. In the other match, Hojai defeated Morigaon by eight wickets after restricting them to 64 runs for nine wickets. Hojai chased down the target in just 9.3 overs losing two wickets, and Disha Nath Sarkar once again earned the Player of the Match award.

The tournament concluded on April 29 with Nagaon emerging as unbeaten champions and Hojai finishing as runners-up. In the rain-curtailed final league match, reduced to eight overs per side due to adverse weather conditions, Nagaon scored 56 runs for three wickets with contributions from Chayanika Saikia and captain Sangeeta Saikia. In reply, Hojai could manage only 28 runs for the loss of five wickets, as Sangeeta Saikia and Dipshikha Bordoloi claimed two wickets each for Nagaon. Sangeeta Saikia was adjudged Player of the Match. The scheduled match between Goalpara and Morigaon was abandoned due to rain.

At the closing ceremony conducted by General Secretary Tapan Kumar Das, prizes were distributed in the presence of ACA Vice-President Romen Dutta, Additional Commissioner of Nagaon district Gopal Sharma, Navanita Sharma, Asim Kumar Bhawal, Ujjal Baruah, Rita Baidya Kakoti and several other dignitaries. Disha Nath Sarkar of Hojai was awarded the Player of the Tournament title. The cash prizes for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards were sponsored by Chak De Foundation president Surajit Singh Sethi.
