The District Level School Football Tournament 2026–27 commenced on 4 July 2026 at Nurul Amin Stadium, Nagaon, with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The opening ceremony was graced by Shri Pijush Hazarika, Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Assam, as the Chief Guest.
The event was attended by Shri Rupak Sarmah, President of the Nowgong Sports Association (NSA) and MLA of the Batadraba Assembly Constituency; Shri Devasish Sarmah, District Commissioner, Nagaon; and Shri Gopal Sharma, Additional District Commissioner (ADC), Nagaon, along with office bearers of the Nowgong Sports Association (NSA). Their presence added significance to the occasion as the tournament got underway, bringing together young footballers from across the district for a spirited and competitive sporting event.
The tournament serves as an important platform for young footballers to showcase their talent, sportsmanship, and teamwork while encouraging the development of grassroots football in the district. Dignitaries extended their best wishes to all the participating teams and expressed confidence that the championship would inspire young athletes to strive for excellence both on and off the field. The tournament promises several days of exciting football action and healthy competition among the participating schools.
