The R.G. Baruah Inter District Cricket Tournament 2026 (Upper Assam Zone – Group 1) was officially inaugurated on 12 July 2026 at Nurul Amin Stadium, Nagaon, Assam, marking the commencement of an exciting cricketing competition featuring teams from Tinsukia, Jorhat, Naharkatia, and Nazira.
The opening ceremony was graced by Shri Dharmaraj Kalita, Assistant Commissioner, Nagaon, as the Chief Guest, while the tournament was formally inaugurated by Shri Paramesh Bora, former Ranji cricketer.
The ceremony was attended by officials of the Nowgong Sports Association (NSA), including Tapan Kr. Sarmah (Vice President), Tapan Kr. Das (General Secretary), Debajit Das (Ground Secretary), and Mrinal Kr. Hazarika (Sectional Secretary – Cricket). Also present were ACA Panel Umpires Asim Kr. Bhowal and Jaisree Devi Das, along with former cricketer Asinta Das, adding prestige to the occasion.
The opening ceremony concluded with best wishes to all the participating teams for a successful, spirited, and highly competitive tournament.
